The American Herpes Foundation (AHF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the management of herpesvirus infections. Our mission is to enhance the awareness, understanding, and control of herpesvirus infections in the United States by disseminating information and ensuring the exchange of ideas. The AHF is directed by a board of trustees, chaired by Dr. Richard J. Whitley of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and composed of nationally recognized experts in herpesvirus infections.
By receiving current information on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of herpesvirus infections, healthcare providers will be better equipped to provide their patients with optimal care. By understanding the prevalence, transmission, and severity of this illness, patients may be more inclined to approach their healthcare providers for treatment and prevention information.
The goals of the AHF are accomplished through a variety of programs and media including publications, educational symposia, research awards and grants, and the Internet.
